Great Lent 2023

Fr. Gregory has put out a schedule for the months of March and April with the dates and times of the Lenten services he will be serving.  It can be viewed here. Also provided is a Lenten Calendar for your convenience and a list of Sunday Lenten Vespers put out by the Philadelphia Brotherhood of Orthodox Clergy.

March 2023 – GREAT LENT

Sunday March 5th – First Sunday of Great Lent, Triumph of Orthodoxy Divine Liturgy – 10 a.m., Sunday School Children will process with Icons during Liturgy

Wednesday March 8th – Liturgy of Presanctified Gifts – 6:30 p.m., Lenten Agape Potluck Meal afterwards – Please bring a Lenten dish to share!

Saturday March 11th – Vespers – 5:00 p.m.

Sunday March 12th – Second Sunday of Great Lent, St. Gregory of Palamas Divine Liturgy – 10 a.m.

Saturday April 15th - Holy Saturday Vesperal Liturgy – 10 a.m., Pascha Baskets will be blessed after Vesperal Liturgy

Saturday April 15th – Nocturne and Pascha Matins and Divine Liturgy – 11:20 p.m., Pascha Baskets will be blessed after Matins/Divine Liturgy 

Monday April 17th - Bright Monday Divine Liturgy – 10 a.m., A Paschal luncheon coffee hour will be served following Liturgy with games for our Sunday School children.

Patron Saint of Parish Feast Day Divine Liturgy and Celebration, November 21, 2022

On Monday, November 21st the Archpriest Luka (Novakovic), Rector of St. Michael the Archangel Russian Orthodox Church in Philadelphia, along with parishioners and guests celebrated the Feast of Saint Michael the Archangel, Synaxis of Angels. Archpriest Mark Shinn, Rector of Saint Andrew Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Philadelphia, was the Chief Celebrant of the Divine Liturgy. His co-celebrants included Archpriest Lyubo Milosevic, Rector of Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church in Vineland, NJ; Archpriest Valery Sukholobov, Rector of Our Lady "Joy of All Who Sorrow" Russian Orthodox Church in Philadelphia, PA; Priest Nicholas (Dellermann) SS. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Albanian Archdiocese in Philadelphia, PA; and Archpriest Luka (Novakovic). After Divine Liturgy, a wonderful celebratory luncheon was prepared to welcome all in attendance.

Celebration of St. Michael, Patron Saint of Our Parish

The Women's Fellowship is hosting a fundraiser luncheon on Sunday, November 20,after Divine Liturgy. There will  be take away options available. All are invited to enjoy a meal together to celebrate our church's feast day. 

On Monday, November 21, Divine Liturgy will be served at 10 AM.  We will be blessed to have several priests joining us.  A luncheon will follow in the church hall. 

2022 Festival

Our parish annual Festival has been postponed for this year. We appreciate the support from the community.

Axios Metropolitan Nicholas

On the September 13th, His Grace Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan was elected by the Council of Bishops as First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad (ROCOR). May God grant the new Metropolitan Nicholas wisdom and many years. Axios! For more information: https://eadiocese.org/bishopnicholas.

 

2022 St. Tatiana Scholarships Awarded

 
On Sunday, August 7, we recognized the 2022 graduating high school students of our parish who are heading to college.  Gwen, Kaitlyn and McKendamin were celebrated after Divine Liturgy and awarded with the St. Tatiana Scholarship.  Kaitlyn will be attending The University of Arizona majoring in Astronomy, McKendamin will be attending Arcadia University majoring in Biology – pre-professional and Gwen will be attending Immaculata College majoring in Fashion Merchandising. We wish them all the best as they prepare for the next chapter in their lives. May God grant them many blessings now and in the future.

Good Friday and Holy Saturday 2022

On Great and Holy Friday, April 22nd, the service of Matins of Great and Holy Saturday, Lamentations at the tomb, concluded with a procession around the Church carrying the plachinitsa and veneration by the faithful. Beautiful, fresh spring flowers adorn the tomb of Christ, as the faithful approached, they were greeted with a sweet fragrance and joyful heart.  In the morning on Great and Holy Saturday, April 23rdDivine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great, concluded with the Blessing of Paschal Baskets in the Church.

Palm Sunday 2022

On Palm Sunday, April 17th, Divine Liturgy concluded with a procession around the Church for The Entry of Our Lord into Jerusalem Feast Day.  Pussy willows carried by the faithful in the procession were blessed in the Church that morning.  Following services, a wonderful meal and special time together was enjoyed in the hall.  The children, together with Fr. Luka, hand-decorated and colored eggs for Pascha, as they prepared for their Journey through Holy Week.
